Please note that not every cell is a dropdown menu.  You will know if it is a dropdown when it will not let you type into the cell unless it's a specific option.  Also, when the cell is selected (left-mouse click) an arrow will appear to the right of the cell.

If the cells that are dropdowns are not working properly, try these solutions:

Check system requirements.

Make sure that you have Macros Enabled.  When you open the document, there is typically a prompt that will ask you to enable macros.

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button or go to File in the ribbon, and then click Options.
  2. Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click Macro Settings.
  3. Click: disable all macros without notification.
  4. Save the file, close, and reopen it.  You should now be prompted to enable macros upon opening.

Make objects visible again, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button or go to File in the ribbon, and then click Options.
  2. Click the Advanced Category
  3. Scroll down to the 'Display Options for This Workbook' section
  4. Under 'For Objects, Show', select All, then click OK.

Follow these steps to make the arrow to the right of the cell appear:

  1. Select the cell that has a drodown
  2. Click outside of the Excel window (e.g. click on the Desktop, or click in your browser window)
  3. Click on the Excel window, and the arrow may appear, and you can select an item from the list.
